Keep Looking
We lost out on the first home we liked and were pretty disappointed. There were other families that wanted it and the owner decided for someone else.
So we went out again this past week to look at several places. One was out in the country, lots of farms and wildlife but it seemed so far from where we work and Tara goes to school. Almost like we wouldn't be living in Switzerland.
We liked two places we saw and decided that the one shown here was the best for us. It is a three bedroom apartment in Kilchberg, which is within five minutes from where we work. About 20 minutes by train to Tara's school in Wallisellen.
It sits up on the hill on the shady side of the lake.
Very large front room and dining rooms with marble floors, bright and cheery. The views are even more spectacular than the first house. You can see the mountains an almost all the lake. The city center is also visible.
There are three patios, one off the living room, one off the dining room and the third off the kitchen and master bedroom. What would be Tara's room also has a good view of the lake.
The third bedroom is not on the same floor as the rest of the apartment. You must go into the hallway and down one flight. The utility room is off this room. Rather odd, but it would make a nice rec room and spare room for those who might come to visit.
We put in an offer on Wednesday, soon after we visited the apartment. There are currently four other families interested. Our agent told us Friday that it looks good. Hopefully we will know something Monday.
We will remain hopeful that this time it will work for us. There are many beautiful places to live here and one of them is ours.
I have not started working yet so I am taking Tara back and forth to school each day. She is making friends and picking things up quickly. Her school does not open until 8:30 and this puts me back to the area where Teri and I work about 9:15. Looking for some alternative to get her there yet not make us too late for work.
I will get to meet my new boss when I go to Edinburgh, Scotland for a few days. Teri travels to Munich the day I get back. Never thought we'd have the opportunity to say things like that.
While I feel very lucky to be here we could use a little more to find the right place to live. Keep your fingers crossed.
